Project “Yes To Work, No – Human Trafficking” ( Ended )

Project ended at December 28th, 2011 and was implemented by the development agency “Five” in collaboration with the Education Development Center and innovation, advice and education center “Dzīle”, Ventspils children support center “Nāc līdzi!”. The project duration was 12 months, from January 1st, 2011 to December 31st, 2011. The project’s main objective was to fight against human trafficking, helping to ensure a safe working environment for your search. As part of children and young people who are exposed to social exclusion and poverty, have been informed and educated about modern human beings.

The main aim of the Project„Yes to job, no – human trafficking” was to inform and to educate children and youth, who are in risk of social rejection and poverty, about the modern human trafficking to let them opportunity to choose a job freely without becoming a victims of people who are involved in human trafficking. The general aim was to fight and forstall the human trafficking and to help provide safe job seeking enviroment.
The Project „ Yes to job, no – human trafficking” which was lasting one year (12 months from 01/01/2011 to 31/12/2011) was taken place in Latvia (Riga, Vidzeme, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Latgale Regions).
During the project in cooperation with our partner NGOs: „ Centre of Education and Innovation”, Centre of the psychological help and Education „ Dzīle” , Children and Teenager Support Centre of Ventspils „ Nāc līdzi”. During the project there was established a good collaboration with the Labor Union of Latvia, State Police, NGOs, model agencies, also with the orphan house „Dzeguzite”.Some of the started collaborations will continue after the project, for example, there is a plan to organize a Great Event „ Against the human trafficking” every year in cooperation with model agencies, NGOs and state institutions.
The targer group of the Project: children and youth who were in risk of social rejection and poverty:
1. Children and youth from settlement outside Riga: 230(from Latgale, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Vidzeme).
2. Orphans:30 (from Aizkraukle, Zemgale)
3. The young parents (till 25 years): 20 (from Ventspils, Kurzeme);
4. The young unemployees and job seekers: 292 (from Riga, Latgale, Kurzeme, Zemgale,Vidzeme)
5. Children and youth who have been in the attention of the police, young offenders,children and youth who are in probation: 20 (from Valmiera, Vidzeme)
6. Children and youth who have been harmed: 20(from Riga).
Thathave we have done during the Project:
1) made a programme for information and training about the phenomen of Human traffick; 2)gathered the avaliable information about the situation in modeling field in Latvia and in human trafficking field in Latvia;
3)did informative months in Latvian Regions and Riga;
4) organized individual concultation (legal and psychological);
5) organized seminars together with the partner organizations;
6) made publication in our web page;
7 ) distributed informative materials;
8 ) established the forum in the Internet;
9 ) made and published in the Internet 2 videos about the problem;
10 ) organized theClosing Event of the Project with a discussion groups.

The results of the Project:
There have been raised the public awareness about the human trafficking-to fight against this phenomenon, promoted the collaboration of the society, NGO and governmental institutions.
There have been informed and educated children and youth,who were in risk of social rejection andpoverty, improved the quality of their life, to reduce the level of risk forthem to become victims of human trafficking, giving them opportunity to competein job market with larger self-confidence.

The final event was to launch a debate on the current situation of a modeling agency, as a representative example, the young people had formed a stylized fashion show. It was carried out in the discussion of the laws governing the fight against human trafficking Latvian. Young people shared their experiences, discussed the problem of human trafficking, thus promoting civil society, non-governmental and governmental organizations in the fight against human trafficking.
